Entry requirements and work permit New Zealand
To work in New Zealand, the course duration and your institution’s location are considered primary eligibility. Some of the course-wise eligibility criteria are:
- Students with Bachelor’s degrees and higher education can apply for a 3-year post-study work visa.
- Students with diploma degrees can apply for a 1 year (inside Auckland) or 2 years (outside Auckland) post-study work visa after graduation.

International students who study in New Zealand would need $15,000 – $19,000 per year to manage their expenses excluding tuition fees.
Banks such as ANZ, Kiwibank, BNZ, and ASB will allow international students who study in New Zealand to open a bank account before they arrive in New Zealand.
There is no centralised application process to study in New Zealand. However, you are expected to take an English proficiency test, apply to a university, lodge a student visa application, and undergo a medical check-up.
